How We Rank Internet Providers

Our rankings blend an editorial score with verified customer reviews — not paid placement. Every provider is scored on six weighted factors.

  • Speed & Reliability
Real-world download and upload speeds, latency and connection stability.
  • Pricing & Value
Advertised price, hidden fees, equipment costs and long-term value for money.
  • Customer Support
Resolution time, availability of support channels and customer satisfaction.
  • Contract Flexibility
Contract length, early termination fees, data caps and equipment policy.
  • Coverage & Availability
Which homes, ZIP codes and rural areas the provider actually serves.
  • Verified Reviews
Weighted average of genuine customer reviews submitted through our platform.

Internet Provider — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from shoppers comparing providers.

How do you rank internet service providers?
Providers are ranked by a weighted score that combines our editorial rating with verified customer reviews. We look at speed consistency, pricing transparency, customer support, contract flexibility and real-world reliability — not just advertised speeds.
What is the difference between fiber, cable, DSL, satellite and 5G internet?
Fiber uses light over glass for the fastest, most reliable connection. Cable uses coaxial copper and is widely available but has slower uploads. DSL uses phone lines and is being phased out. Satellite reaches remote areas but has higher latency. 5G home internet uses cellular networks and requires no installation.
Which internet type is best for my household?
If fiber is available, choose it — symmetrical speeds and low latency suit every use case. If fiber is not available, cable is the next best for most homes. Choose satellite only if you live outside cable/fiber coverage, and consider 5G home internet if you want a low-cost, no-contract option with strong signal at your address.
How often do you update provider ratings?
Ratings refresh automatically as new customer reviews are submitted. Provider details, pricing and coverage are reviewed at least quarterly by our editorial team.
Do providers pay to appear higher in the list?
No. Our rankings are editorial and review-driven only. Sponsored placements, when they exist, are always clearly labelled and never affect the sort order of the main directory.
